Poniente Granadino – the Nature Reserve and the local environment

The Poniente Granadino is an area full of natural attractions. In the centre and south of the area the Tejeda Mountains Nature Reserve, Almijara, Alhama, Loja mountain range, Gibalto, the Alhama gorges, and the Zafarraya Plains all stand out. In the more verdant norht lie the Parapana mountain range, Las Chanzas and El Marqués.
Water, a constant feature of this rich and bountiful area, can be found respectively in the hot spas, reservoirs, and in the various rivers and crystalline freshwater springs.
The area is situated in the heart of Andalusia and can be reached from anywhere in Europe via the A-92 motorway or internationally by air. The airports of Malaga and Granada are situated between 30 to 60 minutes from the region.
As far as tourist facilities are concerned, the area offers every kind of accomodation imaginable, from comfortable guesthouses in villages, through two and three star hotels, campsites, country cottages, to the luxury hotel “La Bobadilla” situated in the countryside.
