Castillo de Bellver - the royal residence of Jaime II.
The castle, by Pere Salvà, is situated on a hill and was the residence of King Jaime II. It is a defensive fortress in the Gothic style.
Bellver castle has had different uses throughout its history. King Jaime II ordered it to be built as a royal residence. In the 19th century it was converted into a mint. Its structure is noteworthy for being circular. It has three large towers and a keep which is divided into four floors. In the interior of the castle there is a parade ground on two levels which is circular and a courtyard built above an underground reservoir. There is a chapel on the second floor.
The castle is situated around 3 kilometres from the old quarter of Palma.
