Spain lowers the Speed Limit on Motorways

New Speed Limit in Spain

Tourist who set of to Spain for their holidays will have to take into consideration the lower speed limit introduced by the spanish government on 06/03/2011. The new maximum speed on the spanish motorways is 110 kilometres per hour instead of 120 km. The measure will be temporary and initially will remain in place for the next 4 months.

The announcement of the new speed limit by the Spanish Government is supposed to to cushion the rising price of oil and to allow savings of 15% in petrol and 11% in diesel and will affect all the highways and motorways in Spain.

According to a poll in the El Pais newspaper sixtynine per cent of Spaniards disapprove of the lower speed limit.
