The Costa Blanca, a popular holiday destination
The Costa Blanca is one of the most popular travel destinations for tourists from England, Germany, France, Switzerland, the Scandinavian countries or travellers from Holland and Belgium. The Costa Blanca is located on the eastern part of the Iberian Peninsula along the Mediterranean Sea.
The most important holiday resorts are Alicante, Altea, Benidorm, Denia, Moraira, Javea and Torrevieja. Alicante airport is the gateway to the Costa Blanca, but travellers may also choose to fly to the airports of Murcia or Valencia. Even the airport of Almeria in Andalusia may be an option to take into consideration as a rent a car in Alicante is relatively cheap and may be a good combination with a cheap flight to Almeria. Compare the prices and choose the cheapest option moneywise if you want to save as much as you can on your holidays.
Without a doubt Benidorm is the most important resort on the Costa Blanca with dozens of quality hotels and hundreds of bars and night clubs to party all night. If you prefer a more traditional architecture instead of the skycrapers in Benidorm places like Altea, Javea or Denia may be more appealing. Most resorts on the Costa Blanca have white sandy beaches and the temperatures in this part of Spain are pleasant all year round, although occasionally it gets hot during the months of July and August in the summer season.
If you want to see more than just the swimming pool of your hotel or the beach of your holiday resort consider renting a car and visiting Guadalest, a little picturesque mountain village with a narrow passage way and caves which are still inhabited.
For theme park lovers and families with small children a daytrip to Terra Mitica in Benidorm may be ideal. The theme park is suitable for all ages and includes an attractive aqua park called Aqualandia.
