Villajoyosa on the Costa Blanca
Villajoyosa is a small town by the Mediterranean Sea on the Cost Blanca in the province of Alicante.
This little holiday resort is locate only thirty two kilometres from Alicante and is a popular destination for tourists from all over Europe. Villajoyosa is the administrative centre of the region called Marina Baixa. The three kilometres of white sandy beaches of La Vila Joiosa, as the town is called in the local Valencian language, offer sun and beach lovers everything they may be looking for. The most well known beach is the Platja Centre which has got a lovely beach front promenade.
Villajoyosa is famous worldwide for its festival of Moros i cristians, a traditional festival which is declared of international interest by the administration. The festival is held in the summer and reminds the battle between the moorish army and the christians.
The so-called desembarco is the spectacular highlight of the Moors and Christians festival in Villajoyosa. Another important tourist attraction in La Vila Joiosa is the multi coloured fisherman's houses.
The province of Alicante is famous for it's chocalate industry and horchata. These typical specialities can be tasted in many bars and horchaterias all over town. There are even some chocolate factories open for visitors.

Combine the excursion with a visit to nearby resorts like Benidorm, the most popular holiday destination on the Costa Blanca, or leave your rental car in smaller resorts like Altea or Denia where you can enjoy the lovely white beaches of the Mediterranean Sea shore.
